The Cathares

In search of those who remain hidden

Que vous êtes naïf !
…Ce feu, il brûle encore
flame d’or de l’Esprit
mêlée au rouge sang…

What the Cathars knew was this purity that opens the believing soul to the influences of the spirit.

This is how one can discern good spirits from bad ones—by the effect one feels within oneself or in others.

The energy that manifests in man is neither good nor bad in itself; everything depends on the form it will take.

Alas, the evolution of human thought—from its mythological origins to its rational, logical formation—has certainly accelerated humanity’s detachment from the sensory world in favor of an intelligible one.

Human intelligence has turned solely toward the knowledge of material things, whereas it is through intuition that we reach the essential realities of the living spirit, the one immediate truth.

Thoughts are alive when they correspond to the intimate essence of things, to the parts of light and life that are mingled with matter.

Can we then think that the link between the Cathars and the Bogomils still persists, despite the fact that none remain?

Does the journey of souls end once it is completed?

It is denied that souls may dwell in other realms after earthly death.

They must sleep until the resurrection, when they will take back their bodies from their opened tomb
